How it works
BTC Up or Down – 5 Min, resolved by the Chainlink BTC/USD 60s TWAP.
What is the BTC 5-minute Up or Down market?
What is the BTC 5-minute Up or Down market?
Each market is a 5-minute window (e.g. 18:00–18:05 UTC). You predict whether Bitcoin closes the window at or above its opening price (the "Price to Beat"), which is Up, or below it, which is Down. Both prices come from the Chainlink BTC/USD 60-second TWAP. Other exchanges, spot markets and oracles are not used.
How Up vs Down is decided
How Up vs Down is decided
- Price to Beat: the Chainlink BTC/USD 60s TWAP captured at window open.
- You trade Up or Down while the window runs.
- At the deadline, the closing TWAP is read from the same stream.
- If Close ≥ Price to Beat, the market resolves Up (a tie resolves Up). If Close < Price to Beat, it resolves Down.
- Winning shares redeem for $1.00 USDC after the on-chain payout is posted.
Because the TWAP is an average over the window rather than a single tick, a momentary price spike at the boundary doesn't decide the market on its own.
If the price feed is missing
If the price feed is missing
The report at the exact resolution time is used first. If it's unavailable, the first Chainlink observation within the following 5 seconds is used. If none exists, the market doesn't resolve automatically and is handled per its description.
Worked example
Worked example
The Price to Beat at 18:00 UTC is $83,000.00. You buy 100 Up shares at $0.52 = $52.00 (before fees).
- Close $83,010.00 → Up → redeem for $100.00 USDC
- Close $83,000.00 (exact tie) → Up → redeem for $100.00 USDC
- Close $82,990.00 → Down → shares worth $0
Not a real trade. Fees excluded.
Fees
Fees
Fees depend on market type. See Fees.
How you get paid
How you get paid
- Wait for the window to close and the market to resolve.
- Once the on-chain payout is posted, each winning share redeems for $1.00 USDC. Losing shares are worth $0. A 50-50 resolution pays $0.50 per share.
- Go to Portfolio → Positions → Redeem and sign with your wallet. Self-custodial wallets aren't auto-redeemed.
- There's no trading fee on redemption. You can also sell before the close at the market price; a taker fee applies if your order fills immediately.
